Hacienda La Minita – Tarrazú, Costa Rica Transparency Report

TASTING NOTES: Sweet lime, Red Plum, Freesia, Cocoa, Hazelnut
Located in Los Santos, Tarrazú, Costa Rica, Hacienda La Minita is one of the world’s most respected estate coffees. Founded by William “Bill” McAlpin, the farm was built on the belief that coffee is far more than a commodity — it should be enjoyed with the reverence of fine wine. La Minita pioneered the Estate Coffee model, overseeing cultivation, selective hand-harvesting, wet milling, quality control, and export under unified management to ensure full traceability and consistency.
Since 2014, Hacienda La Minita has operated as part of Ito En, a vertically integrated global tea and beverage company, while continuing under its original quality-driven mission. Hands-on farm and mill management, environmental stewardship, worker welfare, and disciplined cupping standards remain central to the estate’s enduring reputation for excellence.

Farmer-first Information
We take a farmer-first approach, partnering with family-owned farms to ensure fair compensation and thriving communities. Coffee isn’t just a crop—it’s a livelihood. Since most of the world’s coffee comes from families, not corporations, every bag we share reflects their dedication, sustainable practices, and craft—making each sip unique and meaningful. We also push for full transparency on farm gate pricing—the price paid directly to farmers—to ensure they reap the rewards of high-quality production and sustainable agriculture.
