The Ayla Washing Station is owned by Testi Trading and operated by the Yonis family and their team. We’ve had the pleasure of buying coffee from Faysel Yonis since 2015, and it never disappoints. Testi Trading invests significantly in the communities where they operate through their Project Direct initiatives. To date, they’ve completed the construction of several primary schools and even built the first-ever high school in the town of Hamasho, a small community in Sidama.
The complexity of this fully washed coffee truly shines, with a fragrance of honeycomb and lemon blossom, and an aroma of vanilla and lime. The cup reveals flavors of jasmine, sauvignon blanc, white tea, and lemongrass, followed by an aftertaste of dried dates and grapefruit. The acidity is multi-layered, with citric, malic, and tartaric notes, and the mouthfeel is creamy and silky, finishing with a medium, tea-like body.
The Ethiopian Sidama Bombe G1 washed is an excellent bean and roast by Bear Lake. I would say it's my second favorite Bear Lake offering behind the Ethiopian Huke Natural. I typically favor the Ethiopian beans over any other Origin. The Sidama Bombe is a coffee that anyone would enjoy. I've bought coffee from all over the world and the Bear Lake Coffees are by far my favorite.
