Honduras - Bourbon Natural Microlot Transparency Report

About this coffee:
A five-bag microlot of Bourbon, processed as a natural and dried on shaded solar beds and a patio at 1,500 m. Cupped at 87.9. In the cup: cocoa, peach, and pineapple, with a bright, refined acidity, a creamy round body and a long aftertaste.

Where it was grown:
Finca Adolfos sits at 1,500 m in Musula, in the municipality of Marcala, the Montecillos highlands of La Paz, and the first coffee region in Central America to earn a protected denomination of origin. Cool mountain air slows cherry maturation here, which is where Marcala gets its sweetness and clean acidity. The farm runs 11 hectares of coffee across 12 total, planted to Bourbon, Catuaí, and Pacamara alongside Lempira and Parainema — IHCAFE's rust-resistant hybrids, kept as insurance after leaf rust swept Honduras. Marcala built its name on washed coffee, so Bryan's naturals are a deliberate break from local habit.

About the producer/farmer:
Bryan Bautista is a third-generation coffee farmer. He finished university in 2017 and came home with a plan: improve quality, experiment with processing, and sell direct to international buyers. Together with his parents, Juan Adolfo and María Dolores, he led the farm out of conventional production and into specialty. Continuous learning, close collaboration with IHCAFE, and steady investment in post-harvest infrastructure have made Finca Adolfos known for distinctive microlots, while the family protects the property's natural spring and surrounding forest.  "The greatest reward has been seeing my family's quality of life improve through coffee — allowing us to invest back into the farm while earning greater recognition in the specialty industry. ~Bryan Bautista".
This harvest, he kept tightening quality systems and refining post-harvest practices. The goal for next season is to market the entire harvest as specialty through direct relationships, and to prepare lots for competition at events like the Cup of Excellence — milestones he believes will position both his farm and Honduras as producers of exceptional coffee.
We're proud to partner with Bryan and his family on high-quality, exploitation-free coffee.
