The Gesha Village Coffee Estate was established in 2007 in the far western part of Ethiopia, near the South Sudanese border, within the West Omo zone. The 471-hectare farm was built with a passion for producing high-quality coffee by Rachel Samuel, Adam Overton and Willem Boot, with the help of the local Meanit peoples who are the inhabitants and protectors of Gesha.

This E-20 lot is part of the Rarities Collection which represents 10% of the total production on the farm. The Rarities Collection coffees are the top scoring lots that Gesha Village produces, and they are frequently chosen for competition by internationally competing baristas.

This very VERY rare Nanolot is the highest quality coffee we have ever sourced, and will be sold in 6oz tubes only. We have a very limited supply of this coffee (55lbs green). If your looking some some of the rarest coffee on the planet, look no further.

Tasting Notes of watermelon, strawberry, red apple, delicate spices

Blind Assessment

Fruit-forward, gently spice-toned, floral. Cantaloupe, narcissus, nutmeg, cocoa nib, amber in aroma and cup. Juicy, balanced acidity; vibrantly silky, very smooth mouthfeel. Long, lingering, fruity and floral finish.

Notes
Produced from trees of the rare Ethiopia-derived botanical variety Gesha (also Geisha) by Adam and Rachel Overton. With its generally elongated beans and distinctive floral and crisp, often chocolaty cup, the Gesha variety continues to distinguish itself as one of the world’s most unique coffees. Although the Gesha variety originated in Ethiopia, it was “discovered” by the coffee world in 2004 growing in Boquete, Panama, and Panama continues to dominate the expanding world of Gesha. This particular version, however, is the outcome of efforts to commercialize Gesha in the region from which it originally came. It is processed by the honey method (some fruit flesh is left on the beans during the drying process).
Bottom Line
A very rare Gesha lot that’s exceptionally balanced, richly sweet, and enticingly complex.

Elegant Ethiopian

Floral, malic fruit, subtle spice. Classy Ethiopian with perhaps the spice notes being the most unusual - yet elegant - for a coffee from the region.
