Coffee Inspired by You, Our Producers, and the Beauty of Nature
I am excited to announce our new coffee drop for fall! Whether you like a light, medium, or dark roast, we've got you covered.
The Inspiration
Of our coffee roasts so far this year, our first was celebrating our first producer, Carlos Pola from El Salvador. It was a light roast called “Founders’ Microlot” and it presented all the amazing fruity flavors and aromas of the origin. It was well received—in fact, our customers wanted more! More origins presented through light, medium, and dark roast levels. So we listened…

The Science
The longer you roast coffee, the more it changes.
Light roasts tend to contain more floral aromas and flavors. With the shorter roasting time, you are getting a coffee that most closely resembles the natural flavors of its origin. We strive to hit a sweet spot in presenting this coffee that preserves the origin’s fruity flavors and aromas. This presentation will appeal to our fruit-forward coffee drinkers.
A medium roast will typically be a little sweeter than a light roast due to the caramelization process that occurs during roasting. Our medium roast has more body and a balanced acidity while still preserving the origin’s flavors and aromas. This medium roast presentation will appeal to our broadest range of coffee drinkers.
Our high-quality dark roast espresso blend combines our best coffees. We pre-blend and roast to hit just the right mix of low acidity with rich aroma, body, and dark roast flavor. This dark espresso roast will appeal to more traditional coffee drinkers.
If we pull all this together into a flavor-emphasizing roast degree chart (Figure 1), you can see that we strive to maximize the flavor quality for each roast level!
