Kenya AA Kangiri New Irati
15 in stock
After much waiting, and much searching, we have committed to our first Kenya lot, and its stunning. In our current economic culture, sourcing and finding quality coffees, farmers, and producers has become very difficult as many of the larger mills have closed down in recent years. This has driven the supply and demand market, and kept many of the best Kenya Coffees from landing in the United States.
Through sourcing channels we have grown over the years, we are happy to share with you this new (and quite rare) Kenya Kangiri New Irati AA. Comprised of Variatels including Ruiri 11, Batian, SL28 and SL34 this beautiful washed coffee has a very fully and velvet like body, boasting heavy notes of black cherry on the forefront of the cup. Supported by notes of caramel and roasted hazelnut with a lingering cherry aftertaste, this cup is not to be missed.
Tasting Notes:
Black Cherry, Caramels, Roasted Hazelnuts

Blind Assessment |
Balanced, high-toned, juicy-bright. Bing cherry, dark chocolate, freesia, Meyer lemon zest, cedar in aroma and cup. Malic (apple-like) acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Fruit-driven, chocolaty finish into the long. |
Notes |
Produced by smallholding farmers of the Kangiri Farmers Cooperative Society, from trees of the Ruiru 11, Batian, SL34 and SL28 varieties of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method at the New Irati Factory. Bear Lake Coffee Co., a B Corp-certified coffeehouse and roastery located in Barronett, Wisconsin, is committed to sustainability through its Coffee with a Purposeā¢ initiative, which ensures that farmers receive compensation well above the Fairtrade Premium for their exceptional small-batch coffee. |
Bottom Line |
An exciting Kenya: very bright, vibrant, fruit-centered and floral with a dark chocolate throughline. |
